Nothing beats summer in San Diego—warm breezes, golden sunsets, and of course, incredible outdoor dining. As someone who lives for good food with a view, I’ve spent plenty of time hunting down the best spots to soak up those perfect summer vibes. Here are two of my all-time favorites for outdoor dining in America’s Finest City.

1. George’s at the Cove – La Jolla
If you’re looking for the ultimate oceanfront dining experience, George’s at the Cove is the place. Perched on a cliff in La Jolla, this spot has breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, and on a clear day, you might even spot sea lions lounging on the rocks below.
I still remember the first time I dined here—sunset, a glass of crisp white wine, and their famous fish tacos that were honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. The grilled mahi-mahi, house-made tortillas, and creamy chipotle sauce made every bite unforgettable. Pair it with their fresh watermelon margarita, and you’ve got summer on a plate.

2. Bali Hai – Shelter Island
For a more tropical escape, Bali Hai on Shelter Island is a hidden gem. This Polynesian-inspired restaurant has a huge waterfront patio with dreamy views of the San Diego skyline. It’s perfect for those summer nights when you just want to sip a cocktail and feel like you’re on vacation.
Speaking of cocktails, you have to try their legendary Mai Tai—but be warned, it’s stronger than it looks! My go-to dish here is the Peking Duck, which is crispy, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the island vibes.
If you’re in San Diego this summer, these two spots are must-visits for an unforgettable outdoor dining experience!
